Ezekiel Nathaniel secured another gold medal for Team Nigeria at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after winning the men’s 400m hurdles final in impressive fashion.
Nathaniel produced a dominant display on Friday, crossing the finish line in 48.47 seconds and pulling away from his rivals in the closing stages to claim the title. England’s Jake Minshull finished second in 48.99 seconds, while Jamaica’s Assinie Wilson settled for bronze after clocking 49.22 seconds.
The victory increased Nigeria’s gold medal count at the Games to nine, further highlighting the country’s strong showing across various sporting events in Glasgow.
Nathaniel went into the final as one of the favourites after topping Heat Two in the semi-finals with a time of 48.69 seconds, which made him the fastest qualifier ahead of Minshull and India’s Santhosh Tamilarasan.
