Veteran Nollywood actress Omotunde Ogundimu has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance as she continues treatment after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Ogundimu made the appeal during an appearance on the Talk to B podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, where she spoke about her health challenges and the financial strain of ongoing medical care.
The actress, who is a widow and mother of three, disclosed that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2025 and has been living with persistent pain since then.
Describing her experience, Ogundimu said she has struggled to understand how she developed the disease.
“I’m going through severe pain. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I don’t know where I got it from. I don’t look for people’s trouble; I’m an easy-going person,” she said.
She explained that while a few individuals have offered support, the cost of treatment has placed a significant burden on her family.
According to Ogundimu, her children have spent much of their financial resources on her medical care, leaving them unable to adequately meet their own needs.
“I have reached out to some people who have been of help. My children have also spent all they have. My children are now exhausting their income on me. They can no longer care for themselves, but I thank God for blessing me with my children,” she said.
The actress noted that she initially chose not to seek public assistance but said her circumstances have left her with no alternative.
“I had refused to seek help from the public, but as it is now, I don’t have any option other than to do it,” she added.
Appealing directly to Nigerians, Ogundimu asked for compassion and support to help her continue treatment.
“I know people will bully me and some will help me. I just have to cry out for help so that I can survive this deadly disease because I don’t have anything left. Nigerians, please have mercy on me. I just want to be healed. The pain is severe. I’m a single mother of three. I’m a widow. I lost my husband in 2012,” she said.
Beyond her health challenges, Ogundimu also spoke about difficulties securing acting roles despite years in the film industry.
She said she has reached out to colleagues in search of opportunities but has received little response, adding that she has spent 35 years in the profession.
The actress also appealed for forgiveness from anyone in the industry she may have offended, expressing hope that doing so could help revive her career.
“I don’t usually get jobs. I have called my colleagues in the industry to beg them for movie roles, but none of them did. Please, if I have offended anyone in the industry, please forgive me. I use God to beg you. I beg you in the name of this profession to please forgive me if there’s anyone that I offended because it wasn’t like this before. I have been doing this job for 35 years,” she said.
