The German Football Federation (DFB) says it is preparing to appoint Jurgen Klopp as the country’s next head coach following Julian Nagelsmann’s resignation.
Nagelsmann stepped down after Germany’s disappointing 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, which ended with a penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the Round of 32.
The result marked Germany’s third consecutive early World Cup exit, following group-stage eliminations in Russia and Qatar.
The DFB confirmed that Klopp has indicated his willingness to take over the national team.
“The DFB leadership will now seek talks with Jürgen Klopp. He has already signaled his willingness to take on the position,” the Federation said in a statement.
Klopp has served as Red Bull’s Sporting Director since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
