Weeks after publicly criticising Atiku Abubakar’s choice of running mate, Kenneth Okonkwo has been appointed spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Okonkwo announced the appointment on his verified X account, where he shared a copy of the letter signed by Atiku.
In the letter, Atiku said the appointment reflected his confidence in Okonkwo’s communication skills, integrity and ability to professionally represent his campaign throughout the 2027 election.
The appointment follows Okonkwo’s criticism of the selection of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate, arguing that the South-East should have produced the vice-presidential candidate.
