The mother of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, Evangelist Mrs. Jane Mmerechi Ekubo-Okwaraeke, has shared an emotional tribute to her son following his burial in Arochukwu, Abia State.
The tribute, contained in the funeral pamphlet distributed at the ceremony, reflected her grief and appreciation for the life the actor lived before his passing.
Ekubo, who was laid to rest on June 18, died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In her message titled “A Tribute to My Exceptional Son – I Love You Till Tomorrow,” Mrs. Ekubo-Okwaraeke described her son as her greatest joy and pride, noting that his absence has left a deep emotional void.
She expressed how much she misses his calls, conversations, encouragement, and shared moments of prayer and fellowship.
“My beloved son, you were EXCEPTIONAL. Yes, you were different in all that you did… You were a priceless gift, an amazing son whose life brought joy, laughter, and pride to everyone who knew you,” she wrote.
The grieving mother said the pain of losing him was beyond human comprehension but added that she finds comfort in the impact he made during his lifetime.
She also highlighted his strong Christian faith, stating that he lived a life dedicated to God and was never ashamed of his beliefs.
According to her, she raised him in the Christian faith and was grateful that he remained committed to it until his final days.
Mrs. Ekubo-Okwaraeke further recalled his words of encouragement during difficult moments, describing him as a source of strength within the family.
She praised his humility, kindness, resilience, and generosity, noting that tributes from across the public show the depth of his influence and legacy.
The mother also expressed gratitude to his wife, Anwuli, for her support during his lifetime and final journey.
She concluded her tribute with a message of hope and faith, saying she looks forward to a reunion in the resurrection morning and praying for his soul to rest in peace.
