The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has again distanced itself from an unauthorized social media account on X (formerly Twitter) operating under the name “Nigeria National Grid,” warning the public against relying on information disseminated through the platform.
In a statement signed and issued by the management of the organization on June 5, 2026, NISO referred stakeholders and members of the public to its earlier press release of January 17, 2026, in which it formally disassociated itself from the account.
The organization expressed concern that the account continues to operate and publish what it described as misleading and unauthorized information about Nigeria’s power grid.
NISO stated that it does not own, manage, control, or operate the social media account and has no affiliation whatsoever with those behind it.
“The individuals or entities operating the account are unknown to the organization and are in no way authorized to speak on its behalf, represent its views, or act under its name,” the statement said.
The agency urged the public, media organizations, and industry stakeholders not to quote, reference, rely on, or attribute any information published on the account to NISO, stressing that such content does not reflect its official position, operations, or activities.
As the legal entity responsible for managing Nigeria’s national electricity grid, NISO emphasized that all official communications are issued only through its authorized channels, including its Facebook and LinkedIn accounts under “Nigerian Independent System Operator,” Instagram handle @officialniso_ng, X handle @OFFICIALNISO_NG, and its official website.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accuracy, and responsible communication with stakeholders and the general public.
NISO also called on the media and members of the public to disregard information from unauthorized platforms and report any misuse of its identity or mandate.
