Ivy Ifeoma, wife of Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, has sparked conversations online after sharing her thoughts on relationships, money, and financial independence.
In a video posted on her TikTok page, Ivy advised young women not to make marrying a wealthy man their primary life ambition. She encouraged them instead to focus on building their own financial stability.
According to her, while marrying into wealth can offer certain advantages, it should not be viewed as a life strategy for financial success.
She also addressed speculation surrounding her marriage, particularly claims that she married the singer because of his wealth and their age difference. Ivy stated that she was already financially independent before meeting him.
“This is my take on the idea of marrying a rich man and before you come for me, know that I was a millionaire before I met this man [Paul Okoye],” she said.
She added that wealth should be seen as a bonus rather than a goal in relationships, stressing that financial independence gives women more security and confidence.
“Marrying a rich man should not be anybody’s primary goal… Don’t get me wrong, marrying rich is a very good add-on because it can open doors of opportunities for you. But what I will tell you to do as a woman is to get rich,” she said.
Ivy further noted that financially successful individuals are often drawn to ambitious and hardworking partners, urging women to invest in themselves and build sustainable careers.
