The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has announced with deep sorrow, yet in firm Christian hope, the passing of its priest and brother, Very Rev. Msgr. Gabriel Osu, who died on Friday, 8 May 2026.
Msgr. Osu, who served the Archdiocese of Lagos until his death, was ordained on 5 December 1981 and dedicated decades of his life to priestly service across various parishes and church institutions.
Over the course of his ministry, he served at Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos; St. Gregory College, South-West, Ikoyi; St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Oshodi; St. Paul Catholic Church, Ebute-Metta; and Our Lady Star of the Sea, Northern Foreshore, Lekki. He also held the position of Director of Social Communications for the Archdiocese.
Until his passing, he resided at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Northern Foreshore, Lekki.
The Archdiocese expressed its grief while affirming faith in the resurrection and eternal life in Christ.
