Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has called on his players to stay disciplined and concentrated as they press on in their bid for the Nigeria Premier Football League title, following a vital 2-0 victory against Bayelsa United.
The Flying Antelopes reinforced their lead at the summit with the result secured at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Sunday. Chidiebere Nwobodo gave the visitors the advantage shortly after the half-hour mark, while Godwin Obaje wrapped up the win late in the game with his 12th goal of the campaign.
Assessing the outing, Ilechukwu admitted the importance of the triumph but emphasised the need for sustained focus as the season approaches its critical phase.
“It was a good game for us. I’m happy but we must not lose concentration,” Ilechukwu told ACL Sports.
Rangers are chasing a second league crown in three seasons under his leadership, and the victory also marked their first away success since January, strengthening their title ambitions.
Although they held the lead, the visitors spent much of the second half absorbing pressure, with their defence and goalkeeper Lucky Abdullahi playing key roles before Obaje’s late goal confirmed maximum points.
