Actress and producer Toyin Abraham has called on social media users to stop involving her in ongoing discussions surrounding the viewership performance of Uche Montana’s latest film, Monica 2.
The reaction comes amid widespread attention on the sequel, which recorded over five million views within 24 hours of its release. Reports indicate the film amassed approximately 4.4 million views within its first 15 hours after premiering on May 2, 2026.
The strong showing has boosted Montana’s standing in Nollywood’s growing digital distribution space, while also triggering skepticism from some online users over the speed of its growth.
Amid the debate, a critic drew comparisons between Monica 2 and Abraham’s recent project, Alakada Gen Z, noting that the latter reached three million views in one week, while Montana’s film crossed five million in less than a day. The user questioned whether the figures reflected organic engagement.
Responding to the comparison, Abraham urged the critic to leave her out of the conversation and allow Montana celebrate her success.
“Pls, leave me out of this and let her enjoy her moment and time. Won sepe fun yi ni, abi kilode gan,” she wrote.
The exchange highlights ongoing conversations about audience metrics and transparency as Nollywood filmmakers increasingly turn to YouTube and other digital platforms to distribute their content and measure success.
