Idia Royals Cricket Club have successfully retained their South-South Female Cricket League crown after an impressive display in the Super 4 playoffs to conclude another outstanding campaign.
The defending champions booked their place in the final with a 51-run victory over Pathfinders Cricket Club in the semi-finals, while Delta Force secured their spot after edging Smashers Cricket Club by one wicket in a closely contested fixture.
In the final at the Iyoba Cricket Pitch, Idia Royals won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a strong total of 141 for four in 20 overs. Their squad, largely made up of national team players, proved too formidable for Delta Force.
Lucky Piety starred with an unbeaten 58 off 39 deliveries, producing a match-defining innings to help set a challenging target.
Delta Force found the chase difficult, finishing on 58 for eight in 16.5 overs as they struggled against Idia Royals’ disciplined bowling attack.
Peace Usen, Favour Eseigbe, and Oseyande Omonkhobho each claimed two wickets, while Piety Shola Adekunle added one scalp to complete the dominant win.
Idia Royals also swept the individual honours, with Eseigbe earning the Most Valuable Player award for her all-round performance, while Piety was named Best Batter for her decisive innings.
