Rahman Jago, a known associate of Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy, has stated that the Afrobeats star has embraced Islam.
Speculation about the singer’s religious beliefs began weeks ago after Burna Boy mentioned during a podcast appearance that he had embraced Islam “at some point” in his search for truth. The comment triggered widespread debate online, with fans questioning whether he had formally converted.
The conversation intensified after Rahman Jago shared a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account showing Burna Boy praising Allah alongside a group of men in what appeared to be a bar setting. He captioned the post, “Allahu Akbar.”
Former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad reposted the clip, remarking that the singer appeared happy and offering prayers for ease in his spiritual journey.
When a social media user asked Ahmad whether Burna Boy had indeed converted, he replied that close associates had indicated the singer had done so, although Burna Boy himself had not publicly confirmed it.
Rahman Jago later joined the conversation directly. Responding to a comment seeking clarity, he wrote: “He converted. He is now a Muslim.”
As of the time of filing this report, Burna Boy has not issued a personal statement confirming or denying the claim.
The development has generated mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics weighing in on the singer’s reported shift in faith.
