Family, friends and colleagues of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba will gather in Lagos on Tuesday, August 11, for a candlelight procession and artistes’ night to celebrate her life and legacy.
The memorial event, themed “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at LTV 8 Blueroof in Ikeja. Details of the tribute were announced in a flyer shared on the actress’s official Instagram page on Friday.
Organisers described the event as a celebration of Osoba’s life, artistic contributions and enduring impact on the entertainment industry.
“Her voice, her art, her spirit… will remain in our hearts,” the tribute message read.
The gathering comes days after the actress died at the age of 40. Her passing was announced on Wednesday by actor Alesh Sanni, who paid an emotional tribute to his longtime colleague.
In an Instagram post, Sanni described Osoba as his “dearest sister” and said he struggled to come to terms with the news.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.
Osoba had publicly revealed her battle with cancer about two years before her death, appealing for support as she underwent treatment.
Following her recovery, she announced her return to acting in August 2025, describing the experience as transformative and expressing a renewed commitment to advocacy.
At the time, she said she intended to use her platform to promote cancer awareness, encourage survivors and support people facing similar health challenges. She also thanked her management team and announced that she was open to acting roles, endorsements and other collaborations.
Meanwhile, Osoba’s family has appealed to the public to ignore unverified reports about the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a statement issued through her official social media page, the Family of Awonuga/Osoba described the circulating claims as false, speculative and unauthorised, urging the media and members of the public to respect their privacy during the mourning period.
Known for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films, Osoba is remembered by colleagues and fans for her talent, resilience and dedication to the industry. The August 11 tribute is expected to bring together family members, fellow actors, artistes and admirers to honour her memory before her burial.
