The Nigerian Navy has intensified its crackdown on crude oil theft and illegal bunkering under Operation Delta Sentinel, recovering about 105,000 litres of products suspected to be stolen crude oil during separate operations in Delta State.
According to a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operations within the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta Area of Operation uncovered concealed storage facilities used by economic saboteurs to stockpile suspected stolen crude oil.
The recoveries, estimated at 60,000 litres and 45,000 litres respectively, were made at different locations within the Oteghele axis of the state.
Folorunsho said the recoveries highlighted both the persistence of crude oil theft syndicates and the Navy’s determination to dismantle their operations, protect critical oil and gas assets and prevent economic losses.
He added that the success further demonstrated the effectiveness of Operation Delta Sentinel in degrading criminal networks engaged in crude oil theft and illegal bunkering across the Niger Delta.
