A new force of specially trained soldiers is joining Nigeria’s security operations as the Nigerian Army graduates 1,182 personnel from its Advanced Infantry Training Programme.
The six-month training, conducted under Exercise Restore Hope X at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State, focused on strengthening the troops’ capabilities in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charged the soldiers to uphold human rights, respect the rule of law, and maintain professionalism while carrying out their duties.
He said the programme was designed to sharpen combat skills, build resilience, and prepare troops to confront evolving security threats, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality.
Shaibu urged the newly trained personnel to remain disciplined, adaptable, and committed as they contribute to ongoing security operations across the country.
The Chief of Training, Army, Major General Valentine Okoro, said the programme equipped the troops with advanced skills in tactical operations, weapons handling, combat medicine, field craft, and leadership.
He added that the training remains a key component of the Nigerian Army’s efforts to develop a highly skilled and combat-ready force.
