In a fresh political move, activist Aisha Yesufu has exited the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing conviction and loyalty to Peter Obi’s political direction.
She disclosed the decision in a post on her X account on Wednesday, saying her choice was driven by a belief in the need to support a movement capable of reshaping Nigeria’s future.
According to her, the coming days are critical for the country, adding that her decision reflects a deeper understanding of the political moment and a desire to remain aligned with what she described as Peter Obi’s vision for a better Nigeria.
She explained that her earlier support for Obi led her into the ADC, and that moving to the NDC was necessary to remain consistent with that commitment.
Yesufu also announced that she intends to contest the Federal Capital Territory senatorial seat under the NDC platform, saying her participation would go beyond party membership into active political engagement. She added that she had completed all obligations within the ADC before her departure and described her experience in the party as rewarding and meaningful.
According to her, she served in various capacities within the ADC, including sub-committee chair, deputy committee chair, and secretary roles at different levels.
She expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with fellow members, noting that many shared a common goal of building a better country.
