Actor Williams Uchemba has called for restraint in public discussions surrounding the personal life of late Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo, saying such matters should be left strictly to the actor’s immediate family.
Speaking in a recent interview, Uchemba said he would not comment on circulating claims regarding Ekubo’s marital status or alleged children, stressing that he was not in a position to confirm or deny such details.
According to him, if the late actor had chosen to keep aspects of his private life away from the public, that decision should be respected.
“Though I do not think I am in the place to say because if Alex did want it like that, I think I would respect it. I would respect his will and he wanted it that way,” he said.
Uchemba added that any official clarification, if necessary, should come directly from Ekubo’s family, noting that individuals often choose to keep personal matters private.
“If anything would come out from that, it would be his family. People have their decisions, some people would not want it out there or in the public. So, it is still best for his immediate family to say anything on it,” he added.
His comments come amid growing speculation on social media regarding the late actor’s private life following his death.
Ekubo’s family had earlier confirmed that he passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos after a battle with metastatic kidney cancer, while requesting privacy during their period of mourning.
The actor featured in over 100 Nollywood productions during his career, becoming one of the industry’s recognisable screen talents.
