Ahead of the 2027 elections, the PDP has scheduled screening for its presidential and governorship aspirants.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s spokesperson, Chinwe Nnorom, the Abdulraman Mohammed-led National Working Committee said the exercise will take place at the party’s national secretariat annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.
According to the statement, screening for governorship aspirants will hold at 12:00 p.m., while presidential aspirants will be screened at 2:00 p.m. on the same day. The party also announced the composition of the screening committees for both categories.
For the presidential screening, the committee is chaired by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, with Hassan Sokodobo serving as secretary. Other members include Abba Isawa, George Sekibo, Sodipo Semiu, Chinelo Chidebelu, Nasiru Mohammed, Zainab Kure, and Lindsey Sora.
For the governorship screening, former Governor Ahmed Makarfi will serve as chairman, while George Ariolu is the secretary. Other members include Ibrahim Umar, Aisha Madawaki, Tajudeen Yusuf, Abdulganiyu Oloyin, Babangida Modibbo, Buba Biri, Olaniyi Ogungbuji, Mike Ahumibe, Gabriel Igboko, Tony Effiong, and Precious Ojelabi.
The party also disclosed that the Tanimu Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee extended the deadline for the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms to May 15.
It added that the deadline for submission of completed forms has been shifted to May 18, while screening of all aspirants is scheduled for May 19.
According to the interim NWC, the decision followed appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across the country, while all other previously announced arrangements remain unchanged.
