Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called on organisers of South African singer Tyla’s scheduled concert in Lagos to cancel the event, citing ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
In a video shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, VDM argued that the singer should not be allowed to benefit financially from Nigerian fans while concerns over the treatment of Nigerians in South Africa persist.
He warned promoters against proceeding with the concert, insisting that the event would face resistance if it goes ahead as planned.
According to him, the situation surrounding Chidinma Adetshina, who has been involved in legal proceedings in South Africa over her citizenship status, further strengthens the call for the concert to be halted.
VDM said allowing the concert to hold while such issues remain unresolved would send the wrong message, adding that he and others would mobilise to disrupt the event if organisers ignored the warning.
His comments come amid growing calls on social media from some Nigerians urging a boycott of the concert in response to repeated reports of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerians in South Africa.
The development follows the release of Tyla’s 2026 world tour schedule, which includes a performance in Lagos on December 22, 2026.
Neither Tyla nor the concert organisers had publicly responded to VDM’s remarks as of the time of filing this report.
