President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for a successful operation in Kogi State that led to the elimination of notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji.
The President, in a statement issued by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the operation as a significant blow to criminal networks terrorising communities in Kogi and neighbouring states.
He said Bastuji’s activities, which included killings, kidnapping and attacks on civilians, had caused hardship for residents, adding that his removal would restore confidence and bring relief to affected communities.
“I congratulate our gallant troops on this decisive milestone. Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals,” Tinubu said, adding that those who choose violence against innocent citizens would find no hiding place.
He said the success reflects the renewed determination of security forces to secure every part of the country.
The President also praised troops involved in another operation that led to the rescue of the widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), describing it as a display of professionalism and bravery.
“The safe return of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar is a source of relief to her family and to all Nigerians,” he said, commending intelligence coordination and the courage of the operatives involved.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will continue to support the Armed Forces with resources, training and equipment to end banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes, while urging citizens to assist security agencies with timely information.
