President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians of his government’s readiness to defeat terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups threatening the country.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message issued Tuesday, Tinubu urged criminals to abandon crime or face the law.
The President also said his administration would neither abandon nor forget communities attacked by terrorists and bandits. He promised more investment in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital.
Tinubu, in the 15-paragraph Sallah message, said: “I extend warm felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and worldwide as they celebrate the glorious Eid-el-Kabir, the Festival of Sacrifice.
“We give glory to Almighty God for preserving our lives to witness this important celebration once again.
“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the enduring virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim — faith, obedience and the willingness to sacrifice for a higher purpose.
“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal. The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations.
“I am confident that, by the Grace of God, the reforms we have pursued will continue to yield improved security and greater opportunities for all.
“I am aware that, despite the best efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, terrorists and bandits still attack some communities. I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil.”
Tinubu urged Nigerians to pray for peace and support the less privileged during the Sallah celebration.
He also said his administration would continue investing in key sectors to improve the lives of citizens.
Meanwhile, wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, stability and prosperity in the country.
In her Sallah message, the First Lady urged Nigerians to live peacefully and support one another.
She also encouraged citizens to remember vulnerable people during the celebration through acts of kindness and generosity.
