The National Taxi Drivers Association has opposed the government’s decision to suspend the public transport strike over rising fuel prices.
The drivers have accused the government of focusing on diesel prices, affecting the matatu sector, while neglecting taxi operators who rely on petrol.
The drivers are now demanding to be included in talks aimed at finding a lasting solution to the fuel crisis. The association has now issued a seven-day ultimatum to both the government and digital taxi companies to address their concerns, warning of protests if their demands are ignored. However, they have rallied online cab operators to raise fares for sustainability’s sake.
