The lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Tambuwal, has stepped down from the 2027 senatorial race.
Following his withdrawal, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has endorsed former House of Representatives Speaker, Faruk Yabo, as its consensus candidate for the seat.
Tambuwal, who was a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, previously stepped down in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a related development, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, Tambuwal’s former deputy during his tenure as Sokoto State governor, has been adopted as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 elections in Sokoto State.
