Maverick Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has made it clear that his rift with Afrobeats star Wizkid remains unresolved and, in his view, permanent.
The fallout between the two musicians began after Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, stated that he was greater than Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. The comment came in response to Seun Kuti’s earlier stance discouraging comparisons between contemporary artists and his late father.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Seun Kuti dismissed the possibility of mending fences when asked if both artists had settled their differences.
According to him, the nature of the remarks made about his father makes reconciliation impossible. He stressed that the issue goes beyond a typical industry disagreement.
Kuti stated that he has no intention of engaging further on the matter but maintained that the dispute remains ongoing. He added that certain boundaries, particularly those involving family, cannot be crossed without lasting consequences.
The comments reaffirm the long-standing tension between both artists, which continues to draw attention within Nigeria’s music space.
