The decision was reached during Tuesday’s plenary session after lawmakers adopted a motion presented by Sulaiman Gumi, who represents the Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.
Members of the lower chamber expressed concern over the persistent incidents of banditry, kidnappings, armed attacks and other security threats that continue to endanger lives and livelihoods in many communities.
During deliberations, lawmakers stressed the need for security agencies to give a comprehensive account of ongoing efforts to tackle the crisis and improve safety nationwide.
The invited officials are expected to brief the House on current security operations, challenges confronting security institutions, and measures being implemented to curb the violence.
The resolution reflects increasing pressure on security authorities as communities across several states continue to grapple with deadly attacks and displacement caused by insecurity.
Lawmakers said the engagement would provide an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of existing security strategies and explore additional measures aimed at restoring peace and stability across the country.
