Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on government to increase investment in people as Nigeria’s population grows.
In a message issued to mark the World Population Say on Saturday, the First Lady stresses that as the nation’s population grows there is dire need to increase investment “in our greatest asset, our people.”
Mrs Tinubu, in the four-paragraph release stated, inter alia: “Today, on World Population Day 2026, I join the global community in support of our commitment to building a future where every individual, especially women and young people, have access to quality healthcare, education, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
“As Nigeria’s population continues to grow, we must increase investment in our greatest asset, our people. Through collective action, we can empower families, promote healthy lives, support our youth, and ensure sustainable development for generations to come.
“I encourage every Nigerian to register and obtain a National Identity Number (NIN), if they have not done so. Accurate population data will enable the government to plan effectively and provide essential services for Nigeria’s growing population.
“Happy World Population Day.”
