The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has approved former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the party’s primaries appeal process, with the NWC adopting the recommendations of the Primaries Appeal Committee after reviewing recent internal elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the decision was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq.
According to the statement, the party also ratified the outcomes of its governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly primaries across the country.
However, the Tarauni Federal Constituency primary election in Kano State was cancelled and will not produce a candidate for the time being.
Ishaq further disclosed that all other candidates who emerged from the primaries have been cleared to contest in the 2027 general elections.
He also revealed that the PRP intends to present a total of 420 candidates across various elective positions nationwide.
“In line with our dedication to being actively involved in the election process, the PRP is proud to have 420 candidates running for all the positions in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The party added that the development reflects its commitment to internal democracy and its broader goal of offering credible leadership options ahead of the upcoming elections.
