Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified nationwide operations, neutralising terrorists and apprehending others in separate security actions across different theatres.
The Army disclosed this in an operational update made available to journalists, detailing coordinated offensives carried out within the last 24 hours.
According to the report, troops under Operation Hadin Kai recorded significant gains against insurgents in Borno State in the North-East.
It stated that soldiers encountered terrorist logistics suppliers along the Agapalwa–Chinene axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, forcing them to flee and abandon a motorcycle and food supplies.
Acting on intelligence, troops also tracked terrorist movement in Gallari, Konduga LGA, where two gun trucks were discovered concealed under trees through aerial surveillance.
“In another operation, troops destroyed suspected terrorist life-support structures at Gakara high ground and Ndova village, further degrading insurgents’ capabilities,” the report said.
It added that troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade neutralised one terrorist during an ambush in Dipchari, Bama LGA, with follow-up operations ongoing.
In the North-West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, troops successfully repelled an attack on the Forward Operating Base in Bagega, Anka LGA of Zamfara State.
The report noted that two gun trucks were destroyed during the engagement, although attackers escaped with an RPG tube after burning parts of the base and looting shops in the area.
Under Operation Mesa, troops intercepted 76 suspected individuals in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State over their alleged involvement in a fraudulent recruitment scheme linked to foreign entities.
Preliminary investigations suggest the operation may be criminal in nature, with the suspects currently in custody for further questioning.
Troops also arrested a suspected terrorist along the Lokoja–Abuja highway following credible intelligence, while investigations are ongoing.
In Plateau State, the Army said troops recovered a locally fabricated rifle and ammunition during ongoing operations in Mangu LGA following an earlier attack that killed a security operative.
The report added that troops across other sectors continued aggressive patrols and offensive operations, with no major incidents recorded.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and criminal elements while ensuring the protection of lives and property nationwide.
