Team Nigeria ended the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in seventh place on the final medals table after an impressive outing across 10 sports. The country secured a total of 24 medals, comprising 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze, to finish as Africa’s highest-ranked nation at the Games.
Nigeria’s campaign began on a winning note with Esther Nworgu claiming the country’s first gold medal in the women’s lightweight para powerlifting event.
Among the standout performers were Ezekiel Nathaniel, who won gold in the men’s 400m hurdles; Goodness Nwachukwu, who shattered her own world record to take gold in the women’s F42 discus; Idris Riluwan, who triumphed in the men’s para-powerlifting event; and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, who made history in the men’s shot put.
Australia topped the overall medal standings with 65 gold, 41 silver and 52 bronze medals. England finished second with 26 gold, 41 silver and 35 bronze, while Canada placed third with 18 gold, 20 silver and 21 bronze medals.
