Gary Neville has outlined four priority signings Chelsea should target as the club prepares for the arrival of new manager Xabi Alonso this summer.
Alonso has agreed a four-year deal and will officially begin his tenure at Stamford Bridge on July 1, taking over after a brief spell by Liam Rosenior, who followed the departure of Enzo Maresca in January.
Chelsea are coming off a defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, with their Premier League campaign also leaving them 10th on the table and unlikely to secure Champions League qualification despite ending a six-game winless run against Liverpool.
Neville, however, believes Alonso’s appointment offers optimism, pointing to his successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen and his strong reputation as a winner, while noting that his short time at Real Madrid was not entirely reflective of his managerial ability.
