The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted members of the public to the activities of fraudsters operating fake online portals for the recruitment of examination supervisors.
The Council said the fraudulent websites have been requesting unsuspecting applicants to submit details of their academic credentials and make payments under the guise of applying to serve as supervisors for NECO examinations.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO clarified that it does not charge any fee for the recruitment of supervisors for the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
According to the Council, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and are interested in serving as supervisors should apply through its official recruitment portal at supervisor.neco.gov.ng.
NECO explained that the recruitment process is now fully electronic, following recommendations by the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria aimed at strengthening examination supervision across the country.
The Council noted that the transition from the previous analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully automated system is designed to eliminate fraud, curb examination malpractice, and promote transparency, fairness, and credibility in the recruitment process.
“It should be noted that the supervisor recruitment on NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required,” the statement emphasized.
NECO disclosed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited for the conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
The Council urged prospective applicants and members of the public to be vigilant and avoid patronizing unauthorized websites or individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment on its behalf.
