Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has paid an emotional tribute to late colleague Alex Ekubo, describing him as a lively, humorous and deeply generous personality during his service of songs.
Speaking at the memorial event, Isime reflected on her experiences with the actor, highlighting his playful nature and constant teasing, which she said always brought laughter to those around him.
She recalled his ability to give friends humorous nicknames, including one he consistently used for her.
“And one thing nobody has really mentioned here is his bad mouth. Alex had bad mouth,” she said, referring to his habit of playful banter.
Isime added that Ekubo never missed an opportunity to joke with people, especially when cameras were around, noting that his sense of humour was unmatched.
“Once you put a camera on his face, you must make sure he yabs you. And you can never out-yab Alex. Never,” she said.
She also described him as a generous individual with a big heart, saying he was always willing to give, even in small ways.
“He had the biggest heart. He loved to give. Even if the only thing he could give you is the meat in his food, he will give it to you,” she added.
The actress further praised Ekubo’s contribution to Nollywood, stating that he was a major figure in the industry whose performances consistently stood out.
“Alex was a big part of Nollywood. He came and he dominated. His performances are something to always look forward to,” she said.
Alex Ekubo reportedly died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after battling kidney cancer.
