Former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has described Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Paris Saint-Germain as the best winger in world football at the moment.
Murphy also suggested that Cristhian Mosquera could be deployed at right-back for Arsenal in their Champions League encounter with PSG if Jurrien Timber fails to recover in time.
Although Mosquera is naturally a central defender, Murphy believes the Spaniard has the qualities to cope in an unfamiliar role despite the difficult task of facing Kvaratskhelia. With Ben White ruled out for the rest of the season, the former England international said using Mosquera as an emergency option would not be disastrous.
“It doesn’t bear thinking about, does it?” Murphy said while discussing the possibility of facing PSG’s dangerous Georgian winger.
“Mosquera is a defender, he’s a centre-half, and he possesses speed. He can operate as a right-back, position himself effectively, and engage in a one-on-one contest. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s not the most favourable situation.
“He’s currently the best winger in the world. He exhibits remarkable physicality and strength, coupled with an astute footballing intellect: knowing when to play quickly and when to maintain possession, he can outpace opponents.
“He is also capable of playing on both flanks, showcasing PSG’s versatility. At times, you’ll observe him on the right; at other times, on the left. Ousmane Dembele can switch to the left or the right, and Desire Doue can also alternate between the two sides.
“It’s a significant challenge for Arsenal; they will need to perform exceptionally well to secure a victory on that night.”
