Tension remains high in Mt Elgon Constituency, Bungoma County, following the fatal shooting of parliamentary seat aspirant Nathan Wasama at his home in Tuikut village, Cheptais sub-County, by unknown assailants.
Bungoma County Police Commander Anderson Njagi says the politician was shot around 8pm on Thursday by two gunmen.
He confirmed investigations have been launched into the murder.
Mr Njagi said there are a lot of illegal guns in the hands of civilians, warning of a crackdown.
It is not the first time the former politician had been targeted. In 2024, he survived an assassination attempt after unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle.
