Award-winning actress Linda Ejiofor has revealed that she once feared her acting career had stalled before a major breakthrough restored her confidence and led to a remarkable double win at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Speaking in an interview with Nollywire, conducted by her husband, actor Ibrahim Suleiman, Ejiofor said she experienced a period of uncertainty in her career roughly three years earlier, when she felt her progress in the industry had slowed significantly.
According to her, the situation led her to seek direction and encouragement through prayer, as she struggled with doubts about her professional trajectory.
“Three years ago, I thought my career was stagnant and not going anywhere, and I asked God for something, anything. And He gave me two beautiful stories,” she said.
Ejiofor explained that those two film roles eventually became a turning point, reshaping her career path and opening doors to renewed recognition in the industry.
She also credited her husband for standing by her during the period of doubt, noting that his encouragement helped her regain confidence in her performances.
“I am so grateful to God, grateful to my husband because he stood by me through this. He told me that I did well in both movies. To be honest, I didn’t believe him,” she added.
Her comeback was cemented at the 2026 AMVCA, where she won Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift and Best Supporting Actress for The Herd on the same night.
The double victory has been widely regarded as one of the standout moments of the ceremony, marking a significant milestone in Ejiofor’s acting career and reinforcing her status in Nollywood.
