King Charles will address the US Congress on Tuesday, promoting the enduring âspecial relationshipâ between the two nations recent political differences between the British government and US President Donald Trump over the war on Iran
Charles and Queen Camilla are on a four days state visit to the United States, highlighting long-standing ties between the allies while avoiding tensions involving British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Trump.
The kingâs speech only the second by a British monarch to Congress after Elizabeth 11 in 1991 is expected to focus on shared challenges, including NATO, the Middle East and Ukraine.
He will stress that both nations can strengthen global security and prosperity by defending common values, describing the partnership as one of the âgreatest alliances in human history.â
Despite recent disagreements, including over Iran and US positions on Britainâs claim to the Falkland Islands, officials say the visit aims to reinforce transatlantic relations.
The trip began with a White House meeting between the royals and Trump and First Lady Melania Trump followed by a series of high-profile engagements.
Charles is also scheduled to visit New York to honor victims of the September 11 attacks before concluding the trip in Virginia with events focused on environmental conservation.
