Javelin bronze medallist Julius Yego has confirmed that the 2026 Commonwealth Games will be his final appearance at the event, with the veteran thrower determined to bow out on a high by winning gold in Glasgow, Scotland.
The 37-year-old made his Commonwealth Games debut in 2010 before making history four years later by becoming the first Kenyan to win the men’s javelin title at the 2014 Games, also held in Glasgow. Yego has been named in Kenya’s 52-member athletics squad as the country prepares to compete across 12 sporting disciplines at this year’s Games.
Meanwhile, the National Olympic Committee of Kenya has unveiled Bidco Africa as the official hydration partner for Team Kenya ahead of the competition.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2.
