Tehran vows to maintain control of strategic waterway as tensions with Washington escalate…..
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has accused the United States of putting global oil and gas supplies at risk through its actions in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi, in a statement on Monday, said Washington had “seriously endangered the security of the world’s oil and gas supply and must be held accountable.”
In a post on X, Mohebi said Tehran would continue to exercise control over the vital waterway, insisting that Iran has the right to manage activities in the strait.
“Tehran will continue to exercise sovereignty over and management of the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
The remarks come amid renewed tensions between Iran and the United States over the strategic passage, which serves as a major route for global energy shipments.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is one of the world’s most important oil transit corridors, with a significant portion of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas supplies passing through it.
