Speaking during a podcast interview with media personality Rufai Oseni, the award-winning artist said he often sees marriages collapse shortly after they are celebrated, sometimes within a year.
He explained that the trend has made him rethink rushing into marriage, adding that the pressure surrounding wedding ceremonies also contributes to his concerns.
According to him, many of his peers frequently seek financial assistance to fund weddings, a situation he said he is reluctant to find himself in.
“I see people get married and in less than a year they want out. I see the drama people go through to get married, the stress about borrowing money. My friends are constantly reaching out to me to borrow money to get married and I don’t want to be that person,” he said.
Ice Prince noted that while he is not dismissing marriage entirely, he is currently not considering it in the immediate future. He suggested that he may revisit the idea later in life, possibly around the age of 40.
He referenced fellow rapper M.I Abaga, who got married at that age, as an example that influenced his thinking.
“I’m hoping that maybe when I am 40… maybe when I’m that age I’ll probably be thinking about that. For now I don’t intend to,” he added.
Beyond marriage, the rapper also spoke about his long-term plans, saying he intends to pursue education and venture into farming later in life. He also indicated that he may step back from actively releasing music albums as he enters a new phase of his career and personal development.
His comments add to ongoing conversations in the entertainment industry about shifting attitudes toward marriage, financial pressure, and lifestyle choices among public figures.
