Manchester United icon Gary Neville has leveled sharp criticism against Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández and Marc Cucurella, characterizing the pair as self-centered in their recent behavior. The pundit argued that the Argentine midfielder and the Spanish defender are undermining the efforts of manager Liam Rosenior and failing their colleagues, particularly following their vocal reactions to the club’s departure from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.
During an analysis on Sky Sports, Neville highlighted a lack of professional discipline within the squad, specifically pointing to the public statements made by the two internationals. He contended that such transparency regarding their frustrations serves only their individual interests rather than the collective good of the West London side.
“You add to that the ill-discipline of Enzo Fernandez and Cucurella, who have been speaking up in the last few weeks,” Neville remarked during the broadcast. “When you speak as they have, that is entirely selfish. It is entirely selfish.”
The former defender further noted that such outbursts place unnecessary pressure on Rosenior, who is still navigating the early stages of his managerial tenure at the elite level. Neville suggested that these actions alienate the dressing room and create a rift with the supporters, who perceive the players as being at odds with the club’s direction.
“It is not helping your manager (Liam Rosenior), who is young and inexperienced and also it is not helping your teammates,” he continued. “It is not helping the Chelsea fans because they are thinking you are discontent.”
