A major transformation in transport safety management is beginning to reflect on Nigeria’s highways, as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says Dangote Cement’s reforms in truck operations are significantly reducing crashes involving articulated vehicles nationwide.
The FRSC described the company’s transport system as a model for the logistics industry, citing fresh data showing sharp declines in accidents, injuries, and fatalities involving Dangote Cement trucks following the introduction of new safety policies and technology-driven monitoring systems.

During a visit by officials of Dangote Cement Plc to the FRSC Headquarters, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed revealed that comparative figures between 2025 and 2026 showed a 56 per cent reduction in crashes involving the company’s trucks, while fatalities dropped by 36 per cent and injuries declined by 52 per cent.
According to the Corps Marshal, the results reflect the success of Dangote Cement’s transport reforms and safety-focused operational strategy, which he described as a benchmark for haulage management and road safety practices across Nigeria and Africa.
Earlier, the Head of Transport at Dangote Cement Plc, Murilo Silva, said the company has increased investments in intelligent transport systems, including artificial intelligence-driven solutions and automated inspection technologies to improve road safety and operational efficiency.
Silva added that Dangote Cement’s collaboration with the FRSC in implementing transport safety initiatives is yielding measurable results, while driver retraining and recertification remain a priority.
Also speaking, the Group Chief HSSE and Sustainability Officer for Dangote Industries Limited, Dr. James Adenuga, said the achievements were made possible through strong management support for innovation and safety reforms.
Meanwhile, Lead Fleet Safety Officer for Dangote Cement Plc in Nigeria, Ozovehe Abraham, disclosed that the company has deployed real-time driver behaviour monitoring systems and is strengthening its speed limit policy to further reduce road crashes and improve haulage safety.
Members of the delegation included Divisional Director of Transport, Obajana Hemant Rana (Col. Rtd.), Head of Pre-Trip Inspection, Charles Theophilus, and Dr. Jibrin Abubakar of the Group Branding and Communications Department.
