Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has dismissed widespread social media reports suggesting he is battling a terminal illness, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The rumours gained attention online after a video of the actor appearing frail circulated across social media platforms, prompting concern from fans and colleagues about his health condition.
In response, Duru addressed the speculation in an Instagram video, reassuring the public that he is not suffering from any severe illness and remains in good health.
He described the viral claims as malicious and the product of individuals he referred to as spreading negativity for attention and engagement online.
“My dear fans greetings to you all, thank you all for always being there for me with your prayers and your wishes… I’m making this video in regards to a very wicked video circulating around about me being sick to that very level you can see in the video,” he said.
“I have never been that sick and would never be that sick. And by God’s grace I will keep being stronger and stronger.”
The actor further criticised those behind the circulation of the video, accusing them of deliberately spreading falsehoods for online traffic and attention.
He urged fans to disregard the report, insisting that any information outside his official message should not be taken seriously.
Despite his clarification, the video sparked continued concern among followers, many of whom commented on his appearance and expressed worry about noticeable weight loss and perceived weakness.
Some fans took to the comment section to wish him healing and strength, while others urged him to seek medical attention and assured him of their prayers and support.
Duru, however, maintained that he is well and thanked his supporters for their concern and goodwill.
