Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola has called on people facing personal difficulties to speak up and seek support rather than suffer through their struggles in silence.
Daramola made the appeal during an interview at the candlelight and night of tribute held in honour of late actress Temitope Osoba.
The actress said many people conceal their struggles because they are afraid of being judged or shamed by others.
According to her, the fear of stigma can prevent people from asking for help even when they are going through difficult situations.
“We don’t speak out, maybe because of shaming. We can be there for one another. You understand, but honestly, people have different things they are going through,” she said.
Daramola also acknowledged that supporting others can be difficult because individuals are often preoccupied with their own personal challenges.
She noted that people may appear fine outwardly while dealing with problems that others know nothing about.
“It is when we wear clothes that we feel that everything is okay. We are a whole lot; before we remember everyone, it will be difficult,” she added.
Despite these challenges, the actress encouraged people experiencing difficulties to communicate their needs instead of withdrawing completely.
“Please, if you have issues, speak out, so we can help each other. We can’t blame anyone for not being there, because we all have our own personal issues,” Daramola said.
Her comments came as friends, colleagues and loved ones continued to mourn Temitope Osoba, whose death has prompted tributes from members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Daramola’s message highlighted the importance of openness and community support, particularly for people dealing with challenges that may not be visible to those around them.
