Popular Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has warned that she will pursue legal action after a social media user accused her of running a prostitution network linked to prominent Nigerian politicians.
The allegation surfaced on Thursday morning on X (formerly Twitter), where a user identified as @Femzydr1 claimed that the actress facilitated relationships between young women and high-profile political figures and film executives for financial gain.
The user further alleged that Badmus secured her current political appointment through such activities. The actress serves as Special Assistant on Social Events and Public Hearings to the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives.
In a swift response on her verified X account, Badmus dismissed the claims as false and defamatory. She stated that the matter would be handled by relevant authorities and made it clear she would not overlook the accusation.
“This is the attention you’ve been craving for, so let’s get into it. This is a false accusation and the authorities will step in. Let it be known that we don’t forgive in this zone,” she wrote while reposting the allegation.
The controversy comes nearly three years after a woman identified as Oge publicly accused the actress of being involved in similar activities. Following her arrest at the time, Oge reportedly stated that she was paid N200,000 to make the claims.
As of the time of filing this report, the X user at the centre of the latest accusation has not publicly responded to Badmus’ threat of legal action.
The development adds to the growing trend of public figures confronting alleged defamation on social media platforms, with many opting to seek legal redress over unverified claims.
