Veteran Nigerian rapper and singer Eedris Abdulkareem has officially introduced his son, Abdulraheem Abdulkareem, popularly known as DJ Papi, as the official DJ of Lakreem Records and his personal DJ.
The announcement was made on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at De Santos Hotel in the Akowonjo area of Lagos State, where the veteran artiste outlined upcoming activities of his record label, Lakreem Entertainment.
Abdulkareem said his son developed an interest in music and basketball from a young age, adding that the family supported both interests as he grew.
According to the rapper, Abdulraheem later expressed a desire to pursue DJing, prompting him to receive formal training and the equipment needed to develop his skills.
“He’s a talented young man, who showed interest in music and basketball at a young age and as a family, we have supported him,” Abdulkareem said.
He explained that after learning the fundamentals of DJing, his son was enrolled in a training facility, where he completed his development and emerged as a professional DJ.
Abdulkareem added that Abdulraheem has already worked alongside him at several performances and that he has been paying him professionally for his services.
The veteran artiste also noted that his son continues to improve his craft while pursuing basketball professionally, a passion he inherited from his mother.
For Abdulraheem, the appointment represents an important step in his career.
Speaking briefly about his new role, DJ Papi described the development as a defining moment and said he intends to make the most of the opportunity to build a career in the music industry.
The unveiling comes alongside another major announcement from Eedris Abdulkareem.
The rapper has unveiled plans for a Nigerian Governors’ Report Card series, a project designed to examine and spotlight the activities of state governors across the country.
