Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has directed the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) to urgently investigate medical practitioners who publicly backed claims of miracle healings during a recent religious crusade in Nakuru County.
Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday during a madrasa graduation ceremony, Duale said that while the Ministry of Health respects freedom of worship, it has a duty to safeguard public health. He warned that unverified claims of miracle healing pose a serious risk to public safety.
“If they cannot scientifically verify the healings, we will be forced to cancel their licences. I am told two of the medics are from MTRH. We have directed the regulator, KMPDC, to conduct a thorough investigation into those medical practitioners,” he said.
