A report alleging the resignation of Defence Minister Christopher Musa has sparked a strong response, with the minister threatening legal action against those behind the claims.
Speaking after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Musa described the report as false and baseless, insisting he has never discussed stepping down from office.
He said those responsible were attempting to undermine public confidence in the government’s security efforts and vowed to ensure they are held accountable.
The Defence Minister explained that his meeting with the President was a routine security briefing, adding that Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the progress being made in tackling insecurity across the country.
Musa also commended Nigerians for their continued support of the armed forces, stressing that defeating terrorism and banditry requires collaboration between security agencies and the public.
He expressed confidence that ongoing military operations would continue to improve the nation’s security situation.
