Nigerian music star Davido has publicly criticised Gboyega Oyetola amid growing political tension ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
In a post shared on X early Tuesday, the singer described the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy as “desperate,” while claiming an alleged political plan linked to him would fail.
“The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola very embarrassing. Oyetola your plan no go work,” Davido wrote.
The award-winning singer did not provide details about the alleged plan referenced in his post.
However, the statement comes as political activities intensify in Osun State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Davido has remained actively involved in the state’s political scene due to his family ties with the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is also his uncle.
Earlier this month, the singer announced a temporary pause from music activities to support Adeleke’s re-election campaign.
According to Davido, he planned to step away from his music career for two months to participate fully in political mobilisation ahead of the poll.
The latest comments have further drawn attention to the increasingly heated political atmosphere in the state as parties prepare for the upcoming election.
