Nollywood actor Damola Olatunji has spoken out against a controversial plan by Apostle Chibuzor to arrange a marriage for his 21-year-old autistic adopted daughter, warning that the situation raises serious ethical concerns.
Olatunji, in a public statement, questioned whether the young woman is capable of giving informed consent to such a life-altering decision. He argued that marriage should only occur when both individuals can freely and fully understand the implications.
The controversy began after Apostle Chibuzor, founder of Omega Power Ministry, shared a Facebook post announcing plans to find a husband for his daughter. The cleric also offered financial incentives and accommodation to any interested suitor.
Reacting to the proposal, Olatunji said the approach was inappropriate and suggested that establishing a dedicated care facility would be a more responsible and compassionate alternative.
“This situation has crossed a line and must be addressed seriously,” he said, stressing that vulnerable individuals should not be placed in situations that could be exploitative.
He further urged the public to consider whether the young woman would independently choose marriage under normal circumstances, without external pressure or influence.
According to the actor, people living with autism deserve dignity, protection, and access to structured support systems tailored to their needs.
The issue has sparked widespread discussion online, with many weighing in on the balance between care, autonomy, and the rights of individuals with developmental conditions.
