Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has clarified that he did not participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.
In a series of posts shared on Instagram, Okechukwu explained that he stepped down from the race after discussions with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who outlined the party’s zoning arrangement for the constituency.
The clarification comes after an earlier video in which he suggested he had contested in the primary and secured 14 votes. He has now dismissed that account, stating that he never went to the polling venue.
Okechukwu said he had initially shown interest in the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections but eventually accepted the party’s position that the seat was not zoned to his local government area at the time.
According to him, the governor explained that Orlu Local Government Area was expected to complete at least two terms before the position could rotate to another area, referencing previous representation by his elder brother, Jerry Alagboso.
He said he agreed to step aside out of respect for the party’s leadership and internal agreement on zoning.
“In respect for the party and its leadership, I chose not to proceed to the field, and indeed, I never did. Nobody will say they saw me anywhere around the primaries venue. In fact I did not participate. As I headed straight back to Lagos,” he wrote.
Okechukwu added that he received the party’s directive early on the day of the primaries and complied immediately by withdrawing from the process.
He also rejected claims circulating online suggesting he was indebted to supporters or involved in political manipulation, describing such narratives as deliberate misinformation.
According to him, his ambition was driven purely by a desire to serve and address concerns about representation in the constituency.
He further stressed that he holds no grievances over the outcome and remains committed to the All Progressives Congress and its leadership.
Okechukwu reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and said he would continue to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid through his City Boy Movement.
